Right before Christmas the Des Moines Sunday Register had a story about Iowa's Office of Energy Independence releasing their final plan for, surprisingly enough, energy independence for the state of Iowa. The vision is broad, tempered by a need for things that are immediately actionable, and seemingly backed by a significant funding commitment.
We fiddled a bit with the link to the final plan PDF, which was a top level statement of direction, and we found many interesting things in the directory where it was housed which we have mirrored for your convenience.
If you've only got time to wade through one lengthly report the detailed anaylsis of energy use in Iowa would be the one to check. There are historic details of energy use from 1980 through today and best of all starting around page 38 you'll find two scenarios listed, one for $50,000,000 and the other for $100,000,000, with the funds being applied to commercialization, research, and education. If you've only got time for the executive overview the OEI's presentation to the legislators is here.
Hey all,
I'm researching job leads and remembered this energy independence initiative and was sure I'd read here. Thanks.
BTW, most links are dead. But you probably knew that ;) I know, priorities !!
